BBC Radio Northampton's John Griff hosts an afternoon of exciting entertainment at Northampton town centre’s Christmas launch. Starting at around 2pm, stage acts include show stopping tunes from local company Looking Glass Theatre www.lookingglasstheatre.co.uk and solo performances from singer Leanne Boyes and Lauren Jones, winner of Has Northamptonshire Got Talent 2011. Visitors can take part in Christmas themed craft workshops from the marvellous Makendoo, enjoy seasonal street theatre from the fabulous Fairly Famous Family www.fairlyfamousfamily.com and get in to the swing of things with live band Yuletide Rock. Father Christmas will be appearing over a live satellite link from his North Pole grotto - he is giving a camera crew from Northampton Borough Council special access to him in his home this year and he’s sending his elves to the Market Square to help children write letters and whisk them to him by magic. How exciting! The Mad Hatter will make an appearance during the afternoon. He’s in town as part of the Royal & Derngate’s double dose of fun - Lewis Carroll’s classic Alice in Wonderland is the Royal’s family Christmas show, while the interactive ‘Down the Rabbit Hole’ is aimed at under fives and grown ups.
