A Giant at the Palace this Christmas!
‘Gulliver’s Travels – A Fairy Tale Christmas at Blenheim Palace’
13th November – 12th December
The festive season at Blenheim Palace this year will be a particularly special time when an exciting exhibition will highlight the recent filming at the Palace for the Twentieth Century Fox film production of 'Gulliver's Travels' in which Blenheim Palace appears in scenes as the Palace of Lilliput. Due for release in cinemas in December, this contemporary interpretation of Swift’s classic tale with incredible special effects stars Jack Black, Jason Segel, Billy Connolly, Catherine Tate, Emily Blunt and James Corden.
In a contemporary re-imagining of the classic tale, Jack Black stars as Gulliver, a big-talking mailroom clerk who, after he’s mistakenly assigned a travel piece on the Bermuda Triangle, suddenly finds himself a giant among men when he washes ashore on the hidden island of Lilliput, home to a population of very tiny people. At first enslaved by the diminutive and industrious Liliputians, and later declared their hero, Gulliver comes to learn that it’s how big you are on the inside that counts.
Throughout the Christmas season at Blenheim Palace, the Palace will be decorated with magical displays depicting themes from the classic tale, Gulliver’s Travels. The Palace State Rooms will be beautifully decorated for Christmas with glowing fires in the Saloon and Long Library. The Great Hall will feature a travellers theme with model boats and hanging hot air balloons amidst the magnificent Christmas trees. In the Saloon the dining table will be set for a Royal Lilliputian feast as featured in the film, swathed in sumptuous white and gold, with a place setting for a giant at one end of the banquet table!
Alongside the Christmas decorations in the Long Library, you will be able to see your image transformed into a giant in our special visual experience! The land of Lilliput will be brought to life with exquisite Dolls Houses and miniatures provided by the Dolls House Emporium and Lilliput Lane.
On the final weekend of the season (11th and 12th December) a variety of special Christmas entertainment will take place in the Palace and Courtyards.

Snow Scene at Blenheim Palace
Living Crafts for Christmas 19th – 21st November
This festive craft show is one of the highlights of the year at Blenheim Palace, turning the courtyards into a veritable winter wonderland with 90 stalls showcasing the best of British produce. The quality crafts on offer include jewellery, ceramics, clothing, works of art and festive food including homemade chocolates, flavoured cheddars, seasonal pies and chutneys – making it the perfect place to beat the Christmas crowds and pick up some beautiful and distinctive presents. Festive Dining at the Palace
Seasonal menus will be available daily in the Water Terraces Cafe, and traditional Sunday lunches can be booked in the Indian Room or Orangery until 12th December. A three-course lunch with a glass of wine and coffee is available at £21.95/ person. Lunches are available from midday to 2.30pm. New festive afternoon teas are available to book during the Christmas season at £42/ couple to include festive cakes such as Cocoa & Chestnut Meringues, Chocolate Truffle Logs and Cherry Macaroons, festive sandwiches and a glass of champagne or Winter Pimm's.
