The Dickens Christmas Market coincides with the ever-popular Dickensian Christmas Festival, what has taken place in Rochester for the last 30 years and now attracts more than 80,000 people over the first weekend in December alone !!!
- A German style Christmas Market featuring over 75 wooden chalets in the beautiful grounds of Rochester Castle
- The first weekend of December brings Victorian festivities to Rochester in the form of a Dickensian Christmas, where you can experience street entertainment, readings, song and dance, plus daily parades through Rochester and the magnificent surroundings of Rochester Cathedral and Castle
- A festive vintage Carousel to add to the Christmas atmosphere
- Giant Christmas Tree decorated with thousands of baubles and illuminated in true festive tradition
- A bandstand where Local bands and choirs will perform an array of Christmas music and carols
- A selection of festive & traditional foods including; roasted hot chestnuts, crepes, waffles and German specialities such as bratwurst, currywurst and gluhwein
- All the fun of the fair with a wonderful selection of fairground rides on the Esplanade directly below the castle walls
- Great shopping in Rochester's Victorian High street, where you will find an eclectic mix of antiques, fashion, collectables and art

Directions by Road
From London: follow A2 towards coast then exit at the M2 junction 1 and follow the signs for Historic Rochester.
From the Coast: Take M2 towards London & exit at junction 3 then follow the signs for Historic Rochester.
Car Parking: There are a number of car parks in close proximity to Rochester Castle & the High Street, most of which are pay and display

Surely there can be no better location for a Christmas Market ?
The Dickens Christmas Market will take place in the beautiful grounds of Kent’s Rochester Castle, overlooking the River Medway and just a few steps from Rochester’s picture-postcard Victorian High Street; home to the ever-popular Dickensian Christmas Festival, attracting more than 80,000 people over the first weekend in December.
Just imagine the setting, the Castle walls illuminated in traditional Christmas colours, trees filled with twinkling fairy lights, the smell of roasted chestnuts and glühwein fills the air and an array of wonderful German style Christmas market huts selling a range of festive gifts and hand-crafted goods. In addition to all of this, street entertainers and Dickensian characters mingle amongst the revellers, whilst carol singers welcome visitors as they enter the market with festive Christmas carols.
The Dickens Christmas Market at Rochester Castle id from the starting on 30th November to the 18th December 2011. It will replace the existing craft market to create what we believe will be the largest 'authentic' Christmas market in the UK, featuring over 75 German style Christmas chalets, a giant Christmas tree, bandstand, and carousel. The castle walls will be illuminated and the entire market will be decorated in festive tradition to ensure that visitors experience a truly spectacular Christmas atmosphere.
