Joyeux Noel! Christmas at Waddeson

This Christmas, in homage to the city where one of the five founding members of the Rothschild dynasty made his fortune, Waddesdon is embracing its French heritage. From the decorations in the house to the food in the restaurant, France and its romantic capital set the scene. You may encounter characters from French history, fairy tales or well-loved children's stories (a certain elephant springs to mind...) or a celebration of French music, theatre, literature, science and art, Christmas traditions and spectacular sparkling trees, all in the opulent surroundings of a magical chateau set in the heart of the English countryside. There is a trail to help you explore and on some evenings the house comes alive with music and dance.
Outside, there is even more to enjoy. For the first time, sparkling trees, lights and stars will guide children along our Reindeer Trail through the Woodland Playground to the Enchanted Forest at the Stables where real snow falls and a sleigh awaits. Our younger visitors can write a letter to Father Christmas in his special study and there will be trails and quizzes, lucky dips and gifts galore in the Stables Shops. Father Christmas will also be visiting the Gardens every weekend in December, see if you can spot him! Seasonal and French food will be on sale in the Stables café including crêpes, mince pies and mulled wine.
Don't forget both the House and Gardens will reopen on Monday 27 December until Friday 31 December inclusive to allow more people to see the festive decorations during the Christmas break. The Manor Restaurant will also be open as usual together with the Wine Cellars.

Christmas Shopping,
At Waddesdon we take great pride in our beautiful shops, which offer a huge array of gorgeous products. This Christmas, the main shop will be transformed into our 'Magasin de Noël' featuring gifts and decorations with a distinctly French flavour, and also, of course, our famous selection of Rothschild wines.
With their vintage feel and huge selection of toys, games, and nostalgic confectionery, our stables shops are a great source of stocking fillers.
Last but not least, the plant centre, which can also be accessed directly from the A41, is the place to buy exquisite decorations, fresh wreaths, and beautiful planted arrangements.
Come armed with your Christmas list, and we'd like to think that you'll go away with something special for everyone.
