Strasbourg - Giant Christmas tree - Aurelie Cottier
How to say "Merry Christmas" in French:: Joyeux Noel

Georgia between tradition and modernity
When Christmas comes along, the city experiences a little more magic by discovering the country that is the guest of honour. That gives the people of Strasbourg and those who come to see its Christmas markets a chance to appreciate the rich cultural and crafts traditions and the culinary specialities of the guest country.

This year, Strasbourg, Christmas Capital, will receive Georgia. Georgia is a country of the South Caucasus with centuries-old traditions that are often not very well known.

Do you know the Georgian Christmas tree, called the “chichilaki”? Have you already tasted “churchkhela”?

A traditional Georgian Christmas market is installed at the centre of the city, place Gutenberg, offering a selection of typical products.

An arts and culture programme will give you an opportunity to enjoy the customs of Georgia through traditional songs, folk dances and shows for children.
