How to say "Merry Christmas" in German
Froehliche Weihnachten
Tip: A stroll along world-famous Königsallee is a must. The giant chestnut trees along the boulevard sparkle with thousands of lights, radiating a wonderful Christmas atmosphere.
Destination Düsseldorf: Fascination Diversity
Düsseldorf at the Rhine is the capital of North Rhine-Westphalia, the largest German Federal State in population. As far as life quality is concerned, Düsseldorf belongs to the leading cities worldwide (place 6 on Mercer Human Resource Consulting study). That is why not only more and more inhabitants (587,000) enjoy the city, but also a growing number of tourists do. With about three million overnight stays and umpteen million day-visitors, Düsseldorf is a popular all-year city destination in Germany.
Düsseldorf is known worldwide for its unique shopping possibilities on the chestnut trees lined alley Königsallee, and in the historic centre of the city. By night, the historic centre is full of events: the “Longest Bar of the World” with more than 200 restaurants, bars, and taverns is homeland of the Alt Beer – a real Düsseldorf speciality. In the last years, the fancy MediaHarbour MedienHafen, with its leaning Gehry Buildings and many hip restaurants and bars, became the second nightlife area.
Something is always going on and celebrated in Düsseldorf. At Carnival, from February 11th to 15rd 2010, millions of masqueraded people swing and sway, and sing and dance. Parades promenade through the streets with impressive wagons from which sweets “rain”.
The Biggest Funfair on the Rhine (from July 17th to 25th 2010) attracts with a looping roller coaster, a big wheel, and an exciting water-ride the masses to a carousel ride. At the Japan-Day on May 29th, 2010 pyrotechnics’ from Far East light splendid illustrative fireworks.
