When the colours blue and gold take over the scene in the cosy light of the pre-Christmas season and transform the place in a miraculous way, the time has come for the ‘Wiesbaden Twinkling Star Christmas Market.’
At the Schlossplatz (palace square) in Wiesbaden, amidst the picturesque setting of the impressive parliament building of the Hessischer Landtag, the town hall and the stately church Marktkirche, more than 130 stall-keepers offer their goods to delve among, discover and taste, every year over the four weeks before Christmas. Brightly lit ten metres high lilies, the symbol of the Wiesbaden city coat of arms, are pointing the way to a world full of artistic craftwork, ceramics and glass art, as well as culinary treats and tempting rides. A particular eye catcher is, next to a Christmas crèche with life-size figures, the Christmas tree in front of the town hall, shining with the light of about 3,000 environmentally friendly light-bulbs and decorated with about 1,000 blue and golden ribbons.
A very unusual view of the Hessian state capital of Wiesbaden provides the Ferris wheel, which is erected on the Mauritiusplatz in the pedestrian zone: Discover Wiesbaden in the pre-Christmas time from a height of 40 metres, and see more than 70 brightly lit lilies spread all over the pedestrian zone an along Wiesbaden’s boulevard – the Wilhelmstrasse.

’Eiszeit’ – Ice Skating in a Setting Full of Atmosphere,

Another highlight in the pre-Christmas period is the “Eiszeit” with its around 800 sqm ice rink and two curling rinks in the Warmer Damm park in front of the Hessian State Theatre.
Lovely decorated stands invite you to take a break between skating circuits. The stalls offer mulled wine, crêpes and grilled delicacies, and in addition, the ca. 100 sqm ski lodge is back again this year to warm up in. This lodge is also available for corporate and Christmas events.
New Year’s Eve at Kurhaus Wiesbaden

The historical Kurhaus (convention and event centre) is the beautiful venue for the biggest New Year’s Eve party in the whole Rhein-Main region. The elegant atmosphere of the foyer, the terrific Friedrich-von-Thiersch ballroom and the other salons and halls offer a very special ambience for celebrating New Year´s Eve for about 3,000 guests.
Those who prefer a more personal setting, the Käfer´S Restaurant offer versatile menus at the restaurant of the casino, the Bel Etage, at Käfer´S bistro and at Christian Zais hall. From 9 p.m. the whole building is open to the strolling guests, who are able to enjoy the colourful New Year’s Eve, traditional fireworks in an exclusively reserved outdoor area in front of the Kurhaus.

With a voucher for the ESWE canteen (Wiesbaden’s public transport company) coach driver gain food and beverages for free. Canteen’s opening hours are Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., beyond this time lunch packages can be picked up at the ESWE gate on request.
Voucher for using the coach washing system
During the standby time coach driver are invited to clean the bus in the ESWE washing system.
